An ultralight foam mat! For minimalists!

The Bushmen Radical Alu Mat Ultralight is made from high-quality closed-cell foam, covered with a PE film on each face. It is durable and waterproof.

Insulation is improved by an aluminium layer on one face, which reflects body heat when you sleep on the aluminised side (recommended when it is cold). Or repels heat from the ground when you put the aluminised side down (recommended when it is hot).

Only 3 mm thick! As you would expect, this is not the comfort of a self-inflating mat :)
But it is more than enough for the ultralight enthusiast or the seasoned hiker.
On grassy ground, no problem.
On hard ground, add leaves underneath if you can.
On limestone with stones, find another spot!
Tip: you can fold the mat in two. You then get 6 mm of foam over a length of 90 cm. That is enough for your upper body. For your legs, put your backpack underneath.

Given how little it weighs, it can be added to another mat for winter camps.

The flexibility of the Radical Alu Mat foam means you can fold it without worrying about creasing it. It can then be stowed inside a backpack, which adds shape and comfort to frameless packs such as Frost River bags. It also works as a sit pad.

We like this minimalist foam mat a great deal.
It is perfect for bushcraft sessions and bivouacs in the forest.
You can use it in a hammock: being thin, it follows the shape of the hammock.
Or as a gym or yoga mat.
