The Opinel No. 06 Carbon is the smallest model with the safety ring. You turn the collar at the end of the handle to lock the blade open.

It is also, to our mind, the size at which the knife becomes genuinely useful and practical. For everyday carry in a pocket, or on the trail when you want to travel light.
Small and light, it cuts excellently and sits decently in the hand thanks to its beech handle and that shape unique to Opinel.

We have chosen the models with a carbon steel blade, the historic Opinel steel.
An exceptional edge and easy sharpening are what made the brand famous worldwide.
You will need to dry and oil the blade after every use, though, to avoid any risk of corrosion.
