Very handy for hollowing, gouges are a good complement to hook knives. You can remove material where a hook knife struggles, or alternate between hook knife and gouge to vary the movement and tire less.

With its curved design the BeaverCraft P8a/14 gouge cuts deep and precisely.
Hardened high carbon steel blade giving fine cuts and a long working life. Works dry or green wood.
Fitted with a small wooden (ash) palm handle. The underside of the handle is flat.
Use without a mallet.
