Frontier Blanket

The Bushmen Frontier Blanket is a very handsome traditional-looking blanket made for outdoor use.
A versatile design for several uses: a bedroll, an insulating layer under a hammock (underquilt), a poncho, an extra layer for your sleeping bag, a picnic blanket...

Blanket mode: ideal for summer nights in a hammock or on the ground, in a van or in your car - comfortable down to 15°C.

Poncho mode: put the Frontier Blanket over your shoulders, fasten the button at the neck and you are ready. Add the hood if you need it. The inner fleece layer brings comfort and warmth, the polycotton outer layer keeps rain and wind off. An inner pocket takes small kit (torch, phone, knife...).

Bedroll mode: spread the Frontier Blanket on the ground, slide your mat inside (between the two layers) then get in. Simplicity itself, cowboy-style bivouacking!
If temperatures drop, you can fold half the blanket back over yourself and double the insulation.
You can also get in with your sleeping bag, rather like a large bivy bag. Note that this last option means carrying both a sleeping bag and the Frontier Blanket, which is a lot of bulk. Worth considering only for bushcraft camps, not too far from where you set off.

Underquilt mode: elastic cords let you hang it quickly beneath your hammock, protecting you effectively from cold and damp. The hood becomes a large side pocket for whatever you think you will need during the night.

The Frontier Blanket will protect you from cold, wind, damp and sparks from the fire.
It is very breathable and limits excessive moisture build-up inside.

The outer layer is densely woven polycotton (220 g/m2) offering exceptional resistance to sparks and abrasion.
The inner pile fleece layer (sheepskin-style) brings warmth and comfort. The check pattern adds a rustic character that is far from unwelcome.

The Frontier Blanket measures 2.2 x 1.4 m, big enough to warm two people if needed.
Elastic cords and buttons let you attach it as a lining beneath a hammock, or close off the foot area to hold warmth better in blanket mode.
A long zip lets you open the blanket up. That allows you to insert an extra layer, a mat or a sleeping bag, or both.
Supplied in a polycotton carry bag with several handles and a shoulder strap. Plus a pocket on the outside.
