Rebel Firesteel - Olive

The Bushmen Rebel Firesteel is the practical minimum.

An 8 cm ferrocerium rod with a strand of paracord through it and a small (but very effective) steel striker.

The rod has a hole through which the paracord strand runs.

That braided strand acts as a sort of handle for the rod. It lets you hold the rod better at its end and so strike over a longer distance.

The paracord strand is 1 m long and can serve for small repairs: replacing a lace or a belt, attaching kit to a backpack, tying pieces of wood for a shelter... Or just to wear the Rebel Firesteel round your neck.

The striker is made from 2 mm thick black steel in the shape of a ring.

Its serrated end makes it far easier to prepare sawdust and fine shavings to get a fire going more easily still. And it strikes the ferro rod very effectively.

An essential accessory for anyone who enjoys the outdoors: even wet, a ferro rod throws sparks and lets you light a fire, or a stove, easily.

It works just as well whatever the conditions or the altitude.
