Thermo Blanket - Camo

Another ingenious product from Bushmen, the Thermo Blanket Camo.

At heart a blanket for the outdoors, but with Bushmen it is rather more than that...

The Thermo Blanket has several functions. It is a blanket, a poncho, an underquilt for a hammock and a complement to a sleeping bag.

One waterproof side and one micro-fleece side. Bushmen uses the same fabric as for its Thermo products: ripstop polyester with an aluminised layer for extra warmth. The fabric is light, packable, waterproof and breathable. The silver coating reflects body heat beautifully. Combined with the micro-fleece layer, you gain a significant amount of warmth!

The Thermo Blanket can be used as a simple blanket, perfect for picnics, a nap, a bivouac, or as a groundsheet in a tent... You will not think twice about laying it on wet ground.

It is also a poncho that keeps rain and cold off. The hood with its micro-fleece lining is very pleasant and warm.

The Thermo Blanket can also serve as an underquilt for a hammock: an insulating layer you place beneath it.
When you sleep in a hammock with a sleeping bag, you are well protected above and at the sides, but far less so underneath. Your weight crushes the sleeping bag's insulation, and the thin hammock fabric does not protect you from damp rising off the ground or from the air circulating below. Hence the value of putting an insulating layer under the hammock.
The hood sits to one side and can serve as a pocket to keep small items within reach (head torch, knife, book...).

Finally, you can use the Thermo Blanket alongside your sleeping bag (or on its own if temperatures are mild). It sits over your sleeping bag and mat, like a blanket. A drawcord lets you close off the section above your feet. Then the two elastic tensioners secure the Thermo Blanket to your sleeping system by passing under the mat. Just like a quilt.
You gain warmth, and you also protect your sleeping bag from damp or rain.
