Carinthia is an Austrian brand specialising in sleeping bags and cold-weather clothing.

European manufacture, 70 years of experience and recognition in military circles make Carinthia an obvious choice when you want a tough, dependable sleeping bag. The Carinthia Tropen is a light, very compact sleeping bag, a two-season bag rated down to 5°C. Ideal from late spring to early autumn. Its generous dimensions make it a roomy, comfortable sleeping bag in mild conditions. It can also be used as an outer liner over any other mummy-shaped bag (with the Defence 4, for example) - a combination that improves the performance of the inner bag. That kind of combination is particularly recommended with down-filled bags in cold weather. Down does not like damp, and at sub-zero temperatures the Tropen on the outside will catch the frost, keeping the down nice and dry. Its trapezoidal construction at the feet gives more room and a little space to store kit you want to keep warm. Synthetic G-LOFT fill. Shelltrans outer layer, a highly breathable fabric that moves moisture outwards effectively. Very important in hot, humid environments (the tropics). No seams on the outer fabric, to avoid cold spots. A layer of Thermoflect that reflects body heat and raises the temperature inside the bag. Insulating baffle running the length of the zip inside. Wide, covering hood with mosquito netting to keep insects off. That netting can be removed or stowed under a flap so it is not in the way when you are not using it. Left-hand two-way zip that lets you open the bag more or less at the feet to ventilate and manage warmth better. Carry bag with 7 compression straps.
