Description
Peltonen Knives is a Finnish brand founded in 1995 by Juha-Pekka Peltonen, a former army officer. On a posting to Lebanon he handled an American service knife and was struck by the weight, balance and handling of that blade. He then imagined a knife with the same qualities but adapted to northern conditions. A functional, tough tool suited to military and outdoor use.
That is how the brand's first model was born in 1995: the M95 Ranger Puuko.
The M07 Ranger Puuko PTFE is derived from the M95 Ranger Puuko.
It was designed as a versatile knife for the outdoors, bushcraft and hunting. It is a mid-size knife, big enough for serious tasks but easier to handle than the M95 Ranger Puuko.
It combines the Finnish puukko tradition (blade shape and craft) with modern demands in the field.
The blade of the M07 Ranger Puuko PTFE is made in the Laurin Metalli Oy workshop in Kauhava, Finland.
A thick carbon blade with a sabre grind. The upper part stays black after hardening, in the purest finishing style of the traditional Finnish knife.
Easy to sharpen and excellent for working wood and batoning.
The PTFE (black) coating protects the carbon steel from corrosion and reduces friction and the build-up of grime. This Teflon coating meets food safety certification requirements.
The handle of the M07 Ranger Puuko is made from a TPE plastic blend (thermoplastic elastomer).
A practically indestructible material that nonetheless recycles very well.
The sheath of the M07 Ranger Puuko is composite plastic. It copes very well with any temperature.
This sheath has an innovative EasyLock mechanism. A rubber roller locks against the guard of the handle once the knife is pushed into the sheath.
Thanks to that mechanism the knife stays put. Carry it horizontally or even handle down. Walk, run. Whatever you do, the knife stays in its sheath. And, surprisingly, it comes out and goes back in easily with one hand!
The Velcro supplied with the sheath lets you make a belt loop for conventional carry. You can also use that Velcro to attach the sheath to a backpack or a chest strap (even handle down), or to any bag, pouch or vest with a MOLLE system.
The sheath is ambidextrous and suits left- and right-handers alike.
The M07 Ranger Puuko PTFE is a dependable, versatile knife. For preparing firewood (batoning, feather sticks), for limbing, for setting up camp, for hunting...
Anyone who enjoys the outdoors will get on with it!
