Katanaboy 500-5 Folding Saw

The Silky Katanaboy 500-5 is a large folding saw. Its name comes from "Katana", the sword of the Samurai.

This powerful saw can be thought of as an alternative to a chainsaw. No noise, no pollution, but a little more exercise..
It really is an effective tool, able to cut large sections in a very reasonable time. Of course, when there is serious work to get through you will never match a chainsaw. But for anyone who wants to set up a camp in the woods, cut firewood or clear a plot, and who enjoys doing it, being outside in the quiet of the forest, this Silky Katanaboy saw is the right tool!

The blade is 500 mm long and has 5 teeth per 30 mm. It suits any kind of wood: dry, damp, hard, rotten...

Silky hand pruning saws cut on the pull stroke. There is no point forcing it to saw faster; let the saw do its work and do not push down, which could bend the blade.

The blade is Japanese steel with a chromed surface. The chrome strengthens it, reduces friction and protects the blade from rust and resin.
The teeth of the Katanaboy 500-5 blade stay sharp for a very long time, and they can be sharpened if needed.
The blade must be kept clean to stay effective. Resin dissolves in olive oil, a natural way of looking after the blade. Harsher solvents would damage the handle.

The handle of the saw is very comfortable; made of rubber, it gives a good grip and absorbs vibration. It can be used two-handed.

To stow the saw, the Katanaboy blade folds into the handle (the teeth are then protected).
It has a screw locking system. It locks both folded and unfolded.
To unfold the saw you unscrew, pull on the blade until it clicks, then screw back up. The blade is locked open.
To fold it, you unscrew, fold the blade back in, then screw up again. The blade is locked closed.

The Katanaboy comes with a strong nylon shoulder bag with a Velcro closure. The bag has an extra pocket for a spare blade.
