Alcohol Burner
Brass alcohol burner, proven for over 50 years. Easy flame adjustment and extinguishing.
Description
The Trangia burner is a very handy, very tough little alcohol stove.
Tried and tested for over half a century, you will take to it very quickly.
It is made up of 3 parts:
- The container you pour the alcohol into, which is the base of the stove. To save weight you can carry only this part, which saves around 30 g. The drawback is that you then have to judge the amount of alcohol you pour carefully, so as not to overdo it, because there is no good way of recovering what is left.
- A small lid with a seal: this lets you keep the stove with alcohol inside for a short while. Take care, the burner is not necessarily airtight and it is not meant for carrying alcohol inside.
- A second small lid: it lets you adjust the strength of the flame by opening or closing a small shutter that pivots on top of the cap. Close it completely and the stove goes out.
To use the Trangia burner on its own you will still need a stand for the pot. We strongly recommend using a windshield, which improves the stove's performance considerably.
A small alcohol stove like this is an ideal companion to wood stoves such as the Vargo Hexagon. In certain conditions you will not be able to use wood as fuel (national parks, strong wind or heavy rain), and then the alcohol stove is a welcome alternative.
